Re: Dr Eben Alexander Interview.Very interesting. Do you have any views on NDEs?
Re: Dr Eben Alexander Interview.I'm quite fascinated by the subject. But I keep an open mind. What lends credibility with this case I think, is that this doctor was formerly of the purely materialist school of viewing consciousness. But since his NDE he spent ages trying to explain it through conventional means and has come to the conclusion that consciousness cannot be explained by the brain alone. In fact he describes the consciousness he experienced during his NDE as hyper-reality and beyond any kind of human consciousness!
Re: Dr Eben Alexander Interview.I found it unusual that he uses terms like angels, guardian angel, heaven & deity when describing what he felt.
Almost every debate about things like this wind up deader than a doornail because of the lack of more accurate terminology to describe these things in a non-religious way. As soon as someone uses the word "angel", skeptics pretty much write that persons account off because of the source and definition of that word. I don't know if Dr. Alexander was/is a religious man as I don't recall him getting into that. Of course, that is not my point here but it's something that I would be interested in knowing. His book does seem like it's going to be a good read but if it's anything like his interview, I may lose him due to all of the medical terminology. Hopefully his education and personal experience can somehow spark some interest in NDEs among the medical and psychological scholars.
Re: Dr Eben Alexander Interview.Perhaps it's hard to explain things that are unearthly using earthly language. From what I've read NDE experiencers often say that language cannot adequately express what they have seen.
It looks like he has a pretty impressive list of qualifications in his field as well () not someone who can be dismissed easily!
Re: Dr Eben Alexander Interview.YES! Finally a source that has a qualified background in the field in which he has also experienced the unexplainable.
Re: Dr Eben Alexander Interview.Of more interest though will be Dr. Parnia's results in the AWARE project.
Re: Dr Eben Alexander Interview. There's a thread concerned with the Aware Project which has ironically died.

Re: Neurosurgeon Eben Alexander Discovers Afterlife during NInfo about his book and interview:
http://www.lifebeyonddeath.net/book PROOF OF HEAVEN BY EBEN ALEXANDER, MD PROOF OF HEAVEN WILL BE AVAILABLE ON OCTOBER 23, 2012 IN NORTH AMERICA BOOK A SCIENTIST’S CASE FOR THE AFTERLIFE: Thousands of people have had near-death experiences, but scientists have argued that they are impossible. Dr. Eben Alexander was one of those scientists. A highly trained neurosurgeon, Alexander knew that NDEs feel real, but are simply fantasies produced by brains under extreme stress. Then, Dr. Alexander’s own brain was attacked by a rare illness. The part of the brain that controls thought and emotion—and in essence makes us human—shut down completely. For seven days he lay in a coma. Then, as his doctors considered stopping treatment, Alexander’s eyes popped open. He had come back. Alexander’s recovery is a medical miracle. But the real miracle of his story lies elsewhere. While his body lay in coma, Alexander journeyed beyond this world and encountered an angelic being who guided him into the deepest realms of super-physical existence. There he met, and spoke with, the Divine source of the universe itself. Alexander’s story is not a fantasy. Before he underwent his journey, he could not reconcile his knowledge of neuroscience with any belief in heaven, God, or the soul. Today Alexander is a doctor who believes that true health can be achieved only when we realize that God and the soul are real and that death is not the end of personal existence but only a transition. This story would be remarkable no matter who it happened to. That it happened to Dr. Alexander makes it revolutionary. No scientist or person of faith will be able to ignore it. Reading it will change your life. Interview on Skeptiko: http://www.skeptiko.com/154-neurosurgeo ... xperience/ “Devotion to the truth is the hallmark of morality; there is no greater, nobler, more heroic form of devotion than the act of a man who assumes the responsibility of thinking.” - Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
Re: Neurosurgeon Eben Alexander Discovers Afterlife during NThank you for that.
Re: Neurosurgeon Eben Alexander Discovers Afterlife during NI'm not sure if Dr. Alexander is the best person to rely upon for truthful information (I'm not a sceptic). Read this article: http://www.theatlanticwire.com/entertai ... ked/66772/
Truth is stranger than fiction.
Re: Neurosurgeon Eben Alexander Discovers Afterlife during NSo that's two debunking articles that don't give these claimed discrepancies without having to go to a pay site.
