Is internet porn ruining our next generation? Is censorship the answer?

Is it possible that in sexual matters, the right wing conservatives might be ahead of the left wing in their thinking?

If not, then what should the left do to help us save our children from the indoctrination via internet porn into unhealthy and unwanted sexual habits? Or have them not be able to perform without porn?

I consider myself left wing but I think we may be going a tad far and should move to the right on this issue due to things like you saw in the clips above as well as what is shown in this clip below.

At one time, parents would have closed any shop that gave access to the young to porn. Yet today, parents do not seem to care and as more and more young children get cell phones, parental prohibition will be impossible.

Have parents forgotten how to parent and are men and women willing to allow the status quo to ruin the sexuality of the next generation?

To date, I have lived by the above quote. I do not lack confidence in our adult population but see this issue as more of a medical one and I am willing to censure for our children's sake.

Some Eastern countries have used censorship to gain control of what their children can access. Should the West do the same?

Are our children worth it?

Once younger people reach a certain age and become responsible enough it is their choice in what they want to do. A bit of education may help but in the end it I think it be up to them.
All those who are not even old enough to watch it though do need to be prevented to some extent even if a limiation of freedom, although that would apply a bit more to the non teens and I think to some extent teens do need to be given trust or they will probably rebel anyway.

Porn isn't even just about sex but includes violent attitudes (mostly towards women). That is what makes it harmful as it passes on such ideas.

I guess the main problem with censorship is if one thing is censored then other things could potentially be as well. So it is a hard call but some kind of small censorship may work potentially.

I agree with OP that the situation is more serious than most people might imagine. Back in the day, we had to settle for the Sears catalog (girls in bras) or, maybe your dad's Playboy mags (static, tasteful nudes). I know that if I'd had the internet, I would have gone down the porn rabbithole and been the worse for it as far as my attitudes toward women, sex, etc. You just can't watch that stuff that much and not be affected.

Anyway, there is no reason not to censor material viewed by teens, but I agree that it would be hard to enforce. I think parents have to be much more proactive than in the past to talk with kids and give them some context for understanding the things they are being exposed to. I don't envy those parents at all!
